5-0 out of 5 stars Great Amp
Very clean sound, beautiful Vu meters (with backlights), direct input for cd players (preamp is not necessary), and speakers can be bi-wired, bi-amped directly from the back jacks (double jacks left and right). Wow! Sounds more powerful than 80 watts, conservatively rated. Excellent value!

5-0 out of 5 stars AudioSource Amp Two
I bought this along with the Pre-Amp. In one word: mind-blowing. The quality of the sound, matched with the killer speakers from Edge Audio, quickly excelled my old Nakamichi/KEF set-up. Wow. Just the best investment for the money, bar no others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great speakers and great price.
Just received these speakers a few days ago... I was impressed. I popped in the Gladiator DVD and tested the speakers. Awesome sound. Very clear dialogue from the center channel and clean sound reproduction from the main and surround speakers. The speakers give just enough bass so that you don't completely lose the low frequencies (it will sound REALLY weird if you don't hear any bass.... I tried that with some full range speakers that delivered absolutely NO bass) when the subwoofer is turned off. The mounting kit is a convenient addition to this package (but it's not the best mounting kit around). Quality sound for a very low price. I think it deserves a 5-star.

4-0 out of 5 stars AudioSource Surround VS 3.5 speakers
I purchased the VS 3.5 speakers with the SW 2 subwoofer.

The 2-way surrounds sound good with accurate reproduction for the size, though I replaced the fronts with 2-way bookshelf speakers for a fuller sound. This is a nice system for the price particularly for a small room. They are well-constructed and even have gold-plated binding posts which accept banana plugs.

The price is a bargain even if you just use for the 2 surrounds and the center. The SW 2 subwoofer is quite good to round out this system. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Filled that hole
I've been in the market for awhile to get a sub for my home theather project, wanting the best sound i could afford. Having purchased everything separately, the BOSE 301'S AND the smaller Bose surround speakers still did,nt cut it until i purchased this monster now i've filled that hole or void, it really brought everything together, it cranks...when i opened the box there was some damage to one of the top corners, checked it out anyway, liked it, called amazon back with my disappointment they gave me 50.00 back, it works great, sounds ausum can't even see the slight damage because of the placement pleased all around.excellent product.

4-0 out of 5 stars B'Boooooom.......
This was, quite virtually, an 'impulse' buy.....I had been wanting an INEXPENSIVE subwoofer that I could use to reinforce only the bottom octave in my project studio (digital multitrack, so forth). My Alesis powered monitors tried their best to portray the bottom end, but my mixes almost always came out way too boomy, when played back on other systems, on in a car. So, I ordered this, knowing I'd probably have to stuff the cabinet on arrival, according to almost every other reviewer I'd read. Taking the driver and the amp module out was no problem; lo and behold, there was the "power puff sized" piece of fiberfill that several others had described....totally ineffective. The sub cabinet is actually particle board, NOT medium density fibreboard (MDF), as described.....it would be notably heavier, and way less resonant if it were. Anyway, after lining the cabinet walls with some left over Auralex (egg crate foam would work just as well, and be a LOT cheaper!), I loosely stuffed the cabinet with dacron fiber fill(this, in effect, causes the driver to "see" a slightly larger cabinet than actually is there, so long as you don't over-stuff it). I used speaker caulk (a black rope caulk) to re-seal both the driver, and the amp module, and TADA! Not bad at all! I'm running the crossover somewhere around 50Hz, and with corner-loading this little jewel, I've got the volume set no higher than one fourth. After about an hour of demoing about a dozen various CD's, I was able to blend the AudioSource and the Alesis monitors pretty well. It's every bit as "forward" sounding as my Klipsch sub on my home theatre system, and honestly, not nearly as "tubby". BOTTOM LINE IS THIS: For well less than [money], a bit of acoustic foam and spray glue, you can't beat it. Don't drive it wide open, and it should perform just fine. I'm very satisfied with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Subwoofer
I purchase this subwoofer at the Friday Sale when my KLH 8-inch woofer died after 2 1/2 years of service. All I can say is WOW! The sound difference is incredible, with the lows now thundering. Don't worry, purchase and you won't have any regrets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Buy!
So, I paid around (dollar amount)for this sub. It is AWESOME at that price, and I would not hesitate to pay (dollar amount) for it. I am somewhat of an audiophile on a budget and this sub compromises nothing. It is a truly exceptional value.

3-0 out of 5 stars great... for a while
i bought this about 10 months ago and it has been great. but i ran it hard the whole time and it blew last night, so now i'm going to replace the woofer with a more powerful car sub. hehe... i came across it when looking to make sure that it's 8 ohm impedence, so i decided to comment on it's durability under heavy use... ... Amazon.com Review

The AudioSource SW Fifteen pounds out 200 watts of low-end power, bringing high-impact slam to action DVDs and greater ambient detail and instrumental heft to your favorite music.

A variable low-pass filter (LPF) lets you tailor the sub's output to your existing speakers. By setting the LPF high (toward 180 Hz), you can fill in the bass for bookshelf speakers that may have little bass output. If you use a lower setting (toward 40 Hz), the sub supplements and perceptually deepens the output from larger, floorstanding speakers.

You get more than just the basics here: the SW Fifteen comes with a phase-invert switch for placement flexibility (to help align the crests and dips of the different sound waves when the SW Fifteen and your main speakers are in different places) and auto-on signal sensing for power conservation.

You can hook up the SW Fifteen in one of two ways. In the first case, you can feed the sub one or two RCA-tipped line-level signals from your preamplifier or surround receiver. (The sub has two inputs, but many receivers offer only one subwoofer output, which is fine.) Using this method, your receiver can most effectively route the LFE (low-frequency effects) channel from Dolby Digital or DTS surround programs directly to your subwoofer. The SW Fifteen offers two RCA outputs (really just throughputs) in case you want to send the signal along to a second subwoofer or power amplifier.

Alternately, you can run speaker cable from your receiver to the SW Fifteen and then from the sub's outputs to your front-left and -right speakers. This results in a more seamless transition from the subwoofer to your speakers, as the signal arriving at your speakers has already been filtered through the SW Fifteen's internal crossover (the variable LPF discussed above). If you plan to listen to stereo music with your subwoofer, this might be the way to go.

Our biggest gripe with the SW Fifteen is that it offers clip-type speaker terminals rather than banana-type (five-way binding posts). It still sounds good, but just be sure you have pin-tipped cables or bare-wire tips if you intend to use the speaker-cable hook-up method.

The SW Fifteen has one feature that few subwoofers at any price offer: a variable-crossover knob that clicks when turned, allowing greater precision in selecting points between 40 and 180 Hz (the 80 and 120 Hz points are marked).

The SW Fifteen does an excellent job with power handling. There's plenty of reserve here, and the bass itself plows quite deep. What the sub gains in depth and power, however, it loses in definition--fans of taut, punchy bass might want to look elsewhere (but be prepared to sacrifice some of the ultradeep tones if you stay at this price.

With careful placement and painstaking adjustment of both the level and the crossover frequency, the SW Fifteen can be quite pleasing, though, especially when it's supplementing nearly full-range speakers with extra body and low-end solidity. --Michael Mikesell

Pros:

  • Great value

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutly Best Sub For The Price!
I had my doubts about this sub when i ordered it. I mean 15inch 200 watt power handling for [such a great price]? Sounds cheap to me and i was exspecting cheap sound. The bass is amazing! Audiosource is not the most known brand in the world such as sony but i have to hand it to em. I am 15 years old and was lookin for a sub to bring the house down and piss off my parents, i found it! With my sub cranked and pushing the max power handling i still can't hear a hint of distortion. If you want a sub to take the house down this is the sub for you. I knocked the china of the shelf in the kitchen about 30 feet from my sub through walls at less than half volume, just givin an example of what to expect. BUY THIS NOW!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great price-performance ratio
First of all, this thing is big. I mean really big. But if space is not a problem this sub is unbeatable for the price. I live in a townhouse and this is set up on the first floor, when this sub is turned on you can feel it on the third floor in the shower! Luckily, my neighbor appreciates loud music. It really adds a lot to a home theater system. The amazon description states that it is not video shielded, but the CD that comes with it stated that it is so I'm not sure who to believe. The 12 inch audiosource sells for the same price, so if space is not an issue I suggest just buying this one. Also, the warranty on this one is 5 years and twelve inch only has a 2 year. It is super easy to hookup, but you may need a Y-adapter for the line level out of your receiver. Some of the other reviewers here state that they have two of them hooked up to their systems, I see that as a waste of money. One of these provides plenty of bass for any system. With two you will just make your house fall down quicker. One shakes the place plenty and scares the pets enough.

1-0 out of 5 stars Trouble
Sounded great for a short while. Fuses keep blowing so something is very wrong. Hoping Amazon takes care of this one ... we'll see. Depressing to have something that should work yet won't ... I never cranked it up or drove it hard.

Stay away from Audiosource.

1-0 out of 5 stars Two have blown
My first one lasted less than a month. Blew it's fuse and when I replaced the fuse, it just made a loud hum. The amp was blown. I have an HK510 AVR with sub-out, so I know I didn't give it too much juice. I was skeptical to get another one, but decided to try in hopes I just got a lemon. Amazon was great and paid for shipping both ways. The second one lasted a few months and then the exact same thing. I sent an email on Sunday to thier customer support and got both an email and phone call from them on Monday. They told me they are aware of the problem and have a fix. They are having me just send the amp, so I don't have to pack up and send this beast. Good customer support so far.

4-0 out of 5 stars About this subwoofer..
I bought this subwoofer about 2 years ago from Amazon.com and I was pleased the day it came. It is placed in a room that has cement walls and a cement floor, and it still delivers bass you can hear and feel. I run it with a 500 watt surround sound reciever, and it is used with large speakers.
I haven't had any problems with the subwoofer thus far. Some of the other reviews list the amp getting hot fast at high sound levels, and after a few hours at loud volumes, yes, the amp will get hot. Shutting it down for a few minutes, though, will cool it, and prevent any damage due to overheating. As far as performance, this subwoofer can handle relatively high volumes without distortion. Basically, for the price and sound quality, it is a good buy for anyone interested in adding the low-end sound to their system. ... Read more

Speeker came defective no power or sound,I,m sending it back

3-0 out of 5 stars rumble rumble
I bought this after returning a KLH 12 inch subwoofer to Costco. It was the second KLH to quit on me. The KLH has more punch than the Audiosource. The SW10 has a more rumble sounding bass rather than punchy. Great for earthquake movies but not music. I might try packing it with foam to see if that improves it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great addition for the budget minded audiophile
This sub was a great addition to our budget stereo. It has all the necessary controls - level, phase, freq, and autopower. It added a great rumble and feel to our existing speakers without being obnoxious. Highly recommend to accompany bookshelf speakers or a starter home theater.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tight bass in a small package
For the size, this thing really gives a punch when watching DVD movies and music. I have speakers with 8" woofers on them already, but this thing definitely puts the roar back into explosions...it literally shakes the house. I would definitely recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best ten you could buy

Amazon.com Review

AudioSource's Project One compact loudspeakers may look a little likepotatoes, but they couldn't be farther from garden-variety speakers. The ProjectOnes offer the convenience of tiny bookshelf speakers with the quality sound ofmuch pricier models and the flexibility of gymnasts.

The speakers can stand upright or on their sides thanks to their pivoting gimbalstands. You can dispense with the gimbal stands altogether if you want to mountthem on your wall or your trellis--they're designed for outdoor use as well.

Whether you're using them for home theater satellites or for auditioning MP3s inthe den, we're sure you'll be amazed at how much bass these babies deliver--andhow natural is their overall sonic presentation. Even with dynamic musiccontaining much deeper bass than the Project Ones are capable of delivering, thespeakers kick out clean, low-distortion sound.

The Project One woofers and tweeters are time-phase aligned and video shieldedfor placement near a TV or computer monitor. Mounting brackets are included.--Michael Mikesell

1-0 out of 5 stars Great speaker, lousy product
The sound is fine, but I broke it before I could even get it on the wall. The stands are made of a plastic that broke under minimal pressure when I was trying to adjust the angle. I'd recommend a different model.

4-0 out of 5 stars Impressive Sound
When I originally saw the review from Amazon, I thought I would try them. I am glad I did! They do have great bass for their size. I have been wanting to upgrade my home theater system without breaking the bank so I purchased these to go along with the Audio Source SW12 Powered Subwoofer also from Amazon. They all work FANTASTIC together! The only reason why I gave them four stars(which should be four and a half) is because they lack just alittle on the high end. But that's O.K. since I have had a pair of Super Tweeters from Radio Shack that were used on my old speakers. I just really like to here super crisp highs as well as the mid and the bass. These Project Ones really provide good mid bass and mid-range to use in your home theater. I recommend the use of six of these(since they are sold in pairs)to use for your home theater. That gives you two for the front, two for the rear and two placed side by side for the center channel. Don't forget the Audio Source subwoofer either. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars 100% Garbage!
This thing blows, I have it hooked to my Sony Mini system and it makes more bass w/o it. The bass is not clear, distortion, its all there. DO NOT buy this garbage. If you want a real test to see what a piece of garbage this is, play number seven on the Matrix Soundtrack, it is Prodigy, Minefields. To bad I cannot rate it zero stars, cause it is that bad!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Executive Microsystem Subwoofer
I recently purchased a JVC FS-SD5 compact stereo component system (executive microsystem) which delivers 19 watts per channel. This mini system is an excellent product which I installed on my desk in my 11 foot by 11 foot office at home. This mini system has a subwoofer output jack. Since I never owned a subwoofer before, I searched for a small subwoofer for this JVC mini system. I soon learned that most subwoofers are too large and too expensive for an economical mini system in a small room. The AudioSource SW300 appears to be the only "compact" and low priced subwoofer available. This unit is excellent for my small 11 foot by 11 foot office. The amplified power output is 50 watts and it has a 6 1/2 diameter driver. It is 13 3/4 high, 8 1/8 wide, 8 1/8 deep, and weighs 11 pounds. It fits perfectly under my desk. For a good test of this unit, simply play the song Migra (cut number 8) from the Carlos Santana CD titled Supernatural and you will easily see the great performance of this economical, yet quality, space saving unit.

3-0 out of 5 stars The harsh reality
This subwoofer kicks fine but if you wanna FEEL your bass this is not for you, the bass rings in your ear rather than rumble your body. Even on a ministereo (panasonic) it distorts badly when you turn up the volume. I ordered a different subwoofer the next day!Take my advice, this sub will hurt your ears more than it will entertain you. Consider something else.

4-0 out of 5 stars not a bad sub
this smaller sub packs a pretty good punch, not bad for a college dorm room or something of a similar size. when you turn it up loud it might disturb your neighbors though. ... Read more
