Great Sterio! Worth the Cost!!
I bought this sterio for my daughter for Christmas last winter and it was the present she has used the most. She ran up to her room and plug it in a soon as she got it. It was so nice to see her so excited about a present.
And trust me, I had no idea what all that gobbly gook they told me meant,until I saw it so I will translate it for you. A three C.D. changer is where it can hold three c.d.s inside of the machine at once, so that way they can put their favorite C.D.'s inside and they dont have to keep opening and closing the machine. 120 Watts just is how much power the machine has. And the sterios unattach so they can be put on a book case and the slim center can be put on a desk or table.
I highly recommend this product, and it is worth every penny

This thing KICKS!!
Wow, I'm suprised how this thing sounds. This is by far the best sounding system for $149. This has a lot of great features that are usually only seen in higher end systems. The jog dial makes navigating the system much easier. The same goes for the volume, which can go up in a hurry! The system looks really nice and can really be a great complement to the budget minded HT system. It even has a slot machine game for the demo mode. A preset graphic equalizer(Rock, Pop, Classic) helps a lot. Also, this system looks cool with a silver/blue combo. The speakers really look like beasts. The remote is kind of long, but it gets the job done. A couple of design cons: a).when you use the pause button, you have to press it again to resume, not the play button, b). the CD Player is a little "slow", it takes awhile for it to read the CD, switch tracks, change CD's, and to open. But those two things don't really matter. Otherwise, this is topnotch. The tapedeck performs nicely, and the radio has more presets than you'll need. the AM reception is great with the included antenna, which was a problem for me before. Now, if you have a VCR and TV and say a Playstation and you want a quick HT solution, this is it. It has 2 audio hookups on the back. Just get a couple pairs of monster cables and your set. This Aiwa sounds like a dream @ 150 watts. You don't have to pay more than this for great sound. Set the T-bass and BBE to 2 for perfect sound for the radio, Cd, tape, and aux. Plus tis thing can get LOUD. I haven't cranked it up all the way, but you will catch the rath of your neighbors if you do. Another great thing about this is the timer functions. When you get good, you can program it to fall asleep to it, wake up to it, or have it turn on with your VCR for recording. All those little things help. Just think what your getting for one fifty; 2 60 -watt speakers, a 3disc changer, audio outlet, dual casette, and digital tuner. You can't go wrong. Just What I Expected
I was looking for something for daughter's room. This was the right price, good sound, and a nice size. The music sounds very good for a portable boombox. I really like the remote control so that I can turn it on or off during the night without disturbing her. The only down side was that the volume control is by button instead of a gradual knob.

Ok Machine
I just got this and bought it for the Aiwa reputation and reasonable price. The Q sound has an echo effect which is kind of anoying. What I am most disappointed about is that there is no good bass sound. I own 2 other Aiwa stereos which are bigger and more pricey but boy do they have bass. All in all you get what you pay for. If you want better sound, spend more $$$. Aiwa is a great brand to consider but maybe not this model.

Disappointing
...

First of all, unlike it's description, this boombox does NOT have auto-reverse. It has continuous play on one of the tape decks.

Before buying this I purchased a small Sony boombox. The sound was clear, but lacked 2 tapedecks and a remote control. Seeing this on clearance, it seemed like a great bargain--same price, more features. When it arrived, I listened to both and the sound quality on the teeny Sony was definitely superior. Though the Aiwa 'looks' bigger, it's speakers have poor sound quality and the volume is [bad]. My computer speakers have better volume and depth of sound! I considered sending this unit back, but the return shipping cost (huge shipping box) made me seek an alternative.

Having owned an Aiwa shelf system that lost electronic functions over time, we had a nice set of speakers to switch over onto this unit. It boosted the sound quality and for the clearance price, I figured I would be a happy camper.

That was until I recently decided to record some of my cd's on to tape for my car. Maybe the unit I got is just a lemon..who knows? I won't buy another to find out! But the tape sound has so much background noise that I feel like I have to turn the volume up to hear the lyrics and music. Of course, when I do, the distortion increases, too. Yuck! I realize it's an inexpensive unit, but the tapes made on the Sony had clarity that I can only wish for on this Aiwa. I suppose it's the end-user who must make the final decision. In choosing extra features, I sacrificed sound quality. If you don't plan to use the remote or do taping, and if the room is very small, the Aiwa may be fine. But if a richer sound is a priority, bypass this one. And defintiely don't purchase it for it's non-existent auto-reverse.
Btw, in it's first review, the volume control was mentioned as too low or too high. Without the larger speakers, that wasn't even an issue. I use this in my computer room--relatively small (12 x15) and adjacent to our family room. Before switching it's speakers, my husband could watch tv in the family room, unaware there was music playing nearby. However, I could still hear the entire dialogue of tv shows. (No, the tv's not blaring. ;-)) If you're looking for a non-intrusive sound system for a child's bedroom, you may find this perfect.

I'm giving it 2 stars, due to it's price and remote control. Personally, I'm shopping for a new one and this unit will join it's discarded speakers and be given to a local charity.

Aiwa XD-DV520
My main concerns with the purchase of this DVD were picture quality, and sound. I am very pleased with both. I used an S-Cable for the video hook-up and standard Audio/Video cables for sound. I have the DVD attached to an AIWA AV-NW31 Home Theatre system. I suspect that sound quality relates to the compatability of components from the same manufacturer. The video however, is all on its own. No picture jitters or occasional distortions. I used Hogwarts at night for my evaluation. It was crisp and bright. The box itself is very clean with small button configurations that work well. The remote is small and for me, easy to lose. Sound quality
I am a budding audiophile and was looking for a bedroom portable stereo to compliment my "true" HI-FI (Krell, B&W, Sonic Frontiers, etc). Checked many systems and generally found the expected results: too much attention to looks and exterior design, pretty mediocore sound quality.

It seems that Aiwa XS-G3 will not win any looks awards; however, the sound quality is amazing for a system of this size and price. I already listened to all kinds of music on it: jazz, classical, new age and rock and I am still very impressed. Despite relatively low SNR for a HI-FI (86 dB) , this systems overall sounds better than many others x10 in price.

The user interface is so-so and the remote is nothing to write home about, as other reviewers pointed out. However, if you are looking for the best sound quality in a small system, I think that Aiwa XS-G3 is a true winner.

Other manufacturers checked: Sony, JVC (too bad the FS-5000 seems to be discontinued), Sharp.

Great combo of sound, style and price
This stereo is all that I hoped for and more when I bought it. It sounds great, looks good enough to put in a finsished room and I thought was very reasonably priced compared to similar sytems. Perhaps the only negetive, if I have to find one, is that it does not have a equalizer to finesse your sound preferences and relies upon settings for pop, jazz, classical, etc. (see prior reviews, though I do not believe the sound quality suffers) I personally don't find this to be a problem and did not buy the stereo to be the equivalent of a $500 system.... Overall I think its a really great system.

it with rock it suonds so bed . i like 70s progresive rock
and hard rock and i can not hear it well and it suonds so bed.

Looks good, Sounds Bad
I don't know what cd's all the other reviewers were listening too, but when I heard mine on this stereo, sometimes I had to turn it off. Some instruments just sound awful on this system, distortion you wouldn't get in any old boom box. Some acoustic guitars, some pianos even. Pianos! How do you make a piano sound bad? This stereo manages to do it. Most songs will sound good, but there are songs on all of my cd's that will be distorted on this stereo. Radiohead fan? Amnesiac and The Bends are static-y. The piano in "You and Whose Army" is scratchy all the way through. Just an example of what you can expect from this one. I don't know about watts or anything, but if that's the case, then go for one with more than 120, like this one. Way more.

best in its price range
i've always wanted an aiwa shelf system and this christmas i finally got one. this thing is great! the prominent speakers blast a quality of sound that my deprived ears just aren't used to in a personal stereo. there are a million settings and fun ways to play with this new toy - the motorized window panel being a favorite - although the somewhat confusing remote control can take a while to get accustomed to.. another tiny complaint is that the cd tray makes a noise louder than preferable when switching discs. but overall, i love this unit. it all fits on one shelf, has exceptional sound and performs better than far more expensive competitors. ... A good starter system, only one major weakness
This is an excellent starter system with very good sound and component integration. The speakers are great, too. The only qualm I have with this system is the way graphic equalizing is handled: you get a set of presets (Jazz, Rock, Pop, Classic, etc.) that may or may not be suitable for your favorite CDs and such. You have to play around a lot to find the right setting. Somehow, though true graphic equalizers add $200 or so onto the price of systems like this. So if you're not *too* picky, this may be the perfect system for you. If you are *very* picky, I recommend a more expensive model with full graphic equalizer controls.

Good with one quibble
I have the similar (but lower end model) HT-D290 which lacks the subwoofer and is only "digital ready". But I notice that this model suffers from the same problem as mine: there is no ENTER button on the remote. So you can't do a lot of things like enter FM presets and other things. I don't know why they would leave off such an important key. That and it takes a while to figure out everything the receiver can do (and it has an annoying flashing clock if you don't set it or turn it off) are my only problems. But it is still a great value.

Excellent Home Theatre System for an Excellent Price
I purchased the AIWA HT-D325 and I'm impressed by the sound quality it produces. The system comes with 5 speakers built for surround sound as well as a powerful subwoofer. The speakers produce a great sound, and for the price of this system, you can't beat the fact that you're getting all the speakers you need to enjoy surround sound. A plus-- There are inputs for two additional front speakers (you can add more sound, but you really don't need to). The reciever is equipped for Dolby 5.1 Surround (great for your DVD's!), has 5 preset modes of Dolby Pro Logic Surround (Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classic, BGM) and with those, you can toggle between Normal, Wide, and Phantom Dolby Pro Logic Surround. Best earbuds ever!
I give this product 5 stars. I have had my current pair for over two years, and am looking to replace them because of a small tear in one of the silicone bubbles that surrounds the earbuds. I've been using them day in, day out, and many other brands I've tried before have not lasted nearly as long as this pair has. After my first pair wore out, I bought one each for myself, my mom, my brother, my girlfriend, her mom, her dad,.. the list goes on. Everyone raved about the comfort, convenience, and superb sound quality. It's really a shame they are being discontinued. I would really love to get another pair or two. I'll be visiting the computer electronics store later this week to look at the new headphone selection. I only hope I'll be able to find a decent pair of new headphones.

BEST EARPHONES IN THE WORLD
I agree with fernando_f . Please E-mail (BigMusicLuver@excite.com) me if you ever come back to read your review. I have a pair of these and for a year now I have been trying desperately to find the same exact pair. The comfort is unbelievable because it fits snugly into your ear. The material that is made on these earphones are soft and really comfortable. As fernando_f pointed out, the sound quality is the best I have ever heard. It DOES NOT LEAK. A couple of times when the music is blasting loud I would ask my friends if they can hear the noise. They say "NO!" The sound is so in tact into your ears that one would never want to take off these amazing earphones. If I can say one bad thing is that the silicone that surrounds the earbuds tear easily. This is my own fault because I did not take good care of this delicate product. This should be a hint to AIWA that they should make more of this because they tear easily.

I've tried out many ear phones. Purchased expensive ones and inexpensive ones. But nothing has come close to this specific product. Again, I can't stress enough why these ear phones are the best. The sound and comfort says it all.

I am so sad and disappointed that they discontinued this product. I've already placed a pre-order on Amazon and I will continue trying to find these earphones...or at least until find SOMETHING that will top this product!

this are high quality headphones-super bass
The frequency of this headphones is 6 to 25,000 Hz. They are just amazing. I want to buy more, and they are being discontinued.... I don't understand why. Don't take my word. Go to the store, and try the big headphones. The wider the frequency, the more expensive they are. Why? Because is a better quality. Try those 20 to 16,000, and then try a 5 to 30,000. Now imagine that in portable headphones with a comfortable silicone to seal the sound and give you comfort.

These headphones are crap!! They dont stay in your ears and the sound is terrible. The only way to get good sound is to push them into your ears and hold them there, but it still sounds terrible. Don't buy these headphones
It's difficult to tell from the photograph, but the actual speaker on these headphones is quite bulky, and would not fit into my ear, leaving the headphone jutting out at unlistenable and uncomfortable angle.

The rings in varying sizes included for adjustability cannot fix the fit problem, and, at least for me, added another one; they are flimsy and snap in so tight that when I attempted to change a ring, it broke off, leaving a tab stuck in the slot so that no other rings could be inserted.

From the little testing I managed, the sound quality was also not impressive. In short, do NOT buy these headphones; while not ill-conceived, they are poorly designed and flimsily made.

Aesthetically Pleasing Headphones
These headphones have only one thing better than the rest of them. They're cool looking. If you are more concerned about the looks of a pair of headphones then about the quality of sound, you should get these. Also, Aiwa is a brand you can trust. Well worth the money!
I bought these at the local Best Buy a few months ago and I love them! They give excellent sound quality and excellent ranges. While I have owned these, I have left them out on the floor because my desks and such are extremely cluttered. While they have been on the floor, I have stepped on them at least 20 times, no joke, and they have held up. They are a sturdy set of headphones. If you can afford them, BUY THEM! The BEST set of headphones I've ever used. One more thing... In Austin Powers: Goldmember, about 5-10 minutes in, you can see the music conductor wearing this type of headphones, except they are on backwards.

Superb Selection for Home Audio Listening
I have owned these headphones for a year now. Prior to them I owned a similar pair of headphones but they were manufactured by a no-name company and I bought them for[money]at a computer show. You definitely get what you pay for. Those ones broke. Thirty dollars for this set is well worth it.

Anyone who values absorbing every sound will love them. They keep all the sound in. There have been times when someone has been in the same room as me yelling my name and I didn't realize it. Obviously, I had the volume up very loud and when they tapped me on the shoulder I nearly had a heart attack, so be careful.

Aside from sound quality, they also have outstanding durability. They will stretch to fit virtually any head size. I have a relatively small head but they fit snugly. My brother, who has a very large head, has used them, and they fit him well too.

As far as added features go, there's not much. They are only headphones afterall. I like the location of the mute button (on the bottom of the left earphone), although I have hit it accidentally from time to time (no big deal, it only mutes when you're pressing it). Also, there is more than enough chord. I often plug these headphones into my stereo, put them on, and sit at my desk, which is across the room, without a problem. On the other hand, the chord can get in the way if the player is close. But that's why headphones like this are ideal for home use. The only feature I've noticed lacking from this model is an on-chord volume control (which my cheap $10 pair actually had). But if you're near your player or have a remote for it, this isn't an issue.

All in all, the aiwa HP-X222 headphones are ideal for all home audio purposes, computer and stereo. Five star product.

I needed headphones for my PC because I live in a dorm and dont want to bother my roommate with my Digital Audio projects and such. I bought these because of thier impressive 5-25,000 hz frequency response. These headphones are great. They provide a "true to source" reproduction of the sound. That means that all the flaws of MP3s can be heard through these headphones. It also means that these headphones wont boost bass or cut treble, you will have to do that yourself with your source EQ. Not a problem with me.

What did bother me was the amount of interference I heard from the headphones. My desktop computer is all crammed on my small desk. These headphones are SO GOOD at a wide range of frequencies that it was picking up frequencies within the computer and monitor. I could hear my mouse cursor move across the screen, for example. It was a light fuzzy noise, not a big deal when listening to loud music, but when the audio is off or I was working with editing audio, it became annoying.

I plugged these headphones to the rear audio jack of my sound card, and the interference was less, but that is where i plug in my speakers and I didnt want to have to change the plugs out every time I wanted to switch between speakers and headphones.

So the moral of the story is, these headphones are GREAT if you have a high end, high quality sound coming into them from a high quality source with minimal interference.

Comfort wise, I have a huge head and these headphones were comfortable, they are huge.

I returned them and will probably get a model with less frequency response and an in-line volume control, which is helpful for computers you dont have to keep changing your system volume every time you want the headphone volume to change.

These headphones were purchased at a large retailer for a reasonable price for my computer listening pleasure. Over the past year or two I've had them, their use has expaned to computer listening, minidisc listening, live mixing/recording...etc. They have gone almost everywhere with me. I use them, I would say, an average of 4 hours per day. The only wear is a bunch of scuffs on the outside. For the price, these are very goood headphones, but these things are big. Not like heavy big, but like big coffee cans over your ears. When someone comes into the same room and talks, you can't hear them if you have music playing at a normal volume. The bass coming from the 38mm drivers is not of the clearest quality, but exists. You can't get that out of your typical headphones from this price range. The highs need a little work on the eq, but are okay.
One additional thing: what the heck do they put the worthless mute button there for? You hit that and it mutes the audio, but still need to remove the 'phones to hear someone speak clearly...oh well

All in all, pay a bit more money and get some good Sonys or something. If you are really cheep, or want an inexpensive backup pair...go for it!

These headphones that go over your ear are great for blocking out noise. It's not 100% noise blockage, but better than most headphones.
