5-0 out of 5 stars light and quite sturdy
Like others, I have used this product in a car to power a laptop and such small equipment. It works great. My only wish is that it would have an attachment for airplanes, which it does not.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great for a laptop in the car
We have a second-hand laptop, which didn't come with it's own cigarette/car adapter. So we purchased this product.

It works great, no power issues at all. My only complaint is that it gets really hot, so if you can place it near an AC vent in the floorboard of your vehicle, that'd be a good idea.

4-0 out of 5 stars Linksys L03040 Power 2GO Inverter
This product works great as we have used it a good few times
for operating a laptop in the car.
However, it gets very-very hot very quickly. Not sure if this
    is normal.

4-0 out of 5 stars Linksys L03040 Power Inverter
Like all Linksys merchandise, this power inverter is well made and sold at fraction of the cost of comparable brands. I use this power inverter to run a small printer that I take with me and use inconjunction with my laptop. It powers this fine, but this is not a DC to AC inverter designed for large appliances. If you want to run something small like a laptop, lamp, small microwave, small refridgerator, it's great. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Price and Great Product
I disagree with sid60's review, I have been using the Memorex brand for more than a year now, and so far, I never got a single bad disc. It has to be his cd writer, computer, or software. I have a 52x Lite-On drive, and I use burning sofwares like Nero Burning Rom, Clone CD, CDRWIN, DiscJuggler to burn cds all the time, againt, never got a problem. Also, the cds that are made in Taiwan are in high quality as well. As of 11/12/2003, it's only $9.98 for one 50-Pack Spindle, everyone should stock up, I did, hehe.

    5-0 out of 5 stars MPEG1 videos
I use Memorex & Sony CD-Rs to create MPEG1 CD-R of various TV one-hour shows/series/episodes. I now have complete set of several TV shows - so if it's several years before they go to DVD, at least I'll have a digital copy. The MPEG1s can be played on any computer that has Windows Media Play version 6 or higher. The MPEGs WILL NOT PLAY on standalone DVD players (yet/pre 2002 models).

1-0 out of 5 stars Too Cheap of media!
I thought I had great respect for memorex, but after this I do not. I would say this spindle that I picked up on a whim becuase of price is about 50/50. Half burn and the other coaster. This is on a Plextor which never coastered until now. I dunno probably the last time I buy media online from a big store. Anymore I choose to go to media specialty stores, they sell good media and they give you a good price. Don't know what happened to quality control but it went downhill for memorex. Spend less on commercials and get yourself decent products.

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect
Memorex is the best brand for CD-R. Never had any problems whatsoever with their CD-R's. Other brands have a tendancy to skip after repeated usage, not so with Memorex! Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars if you like bacon, then try this!
I absolutely love the lightscribe stuff that i bought with my works just fine and makes some wondurful disk/disc labels.i can't tell you how wonderful it is!it's amazing, teriffic, stupendous, outrageous, and it sure beats the pants off of the stupid "glue and paper" lables out there.

I think it's wonderful and won't ever go back to doing it the old way.i love it and it's teriffic! outstanding, instanding, or just standing around, it's great and wonderful.

if you like it, then it's good, right?well, I like it, love it, think it's wonderful, think it's teriffic, and think it's yes, it's good.really!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Faint Praise
This would be a wonderful product, except the printing is so faint, at first when you look at a labelled disc, you think you are seeing a blank disk. This is on the burning choice marked "best."I found virtually no difference between choosing "normal" or "best."I did not try "draft."

The idea is great; it is not particularly well executed.Perhaps if there was a greater contrast between the background and the label burned, it would be easier to see.

I used a BenQ 1625 CD/DVD Rewriter with Lightscribe and the burner is great. The label would be wonderful too, if it only were more visible.

I used Nero's latest Lightscribe software and found it difficult and cumbersome to use.One must be willing to spend some time experimenting with this software to make it work and one must expect a fair amount of frustration for what should be a simple task.Nero could have included tool instructions, which are missing and are much needed.

I think this is a great improvement on Sharpies for marking CD/DVD's, but perhaps future generations will improve it.

Generally, it is slow.It took me a little more than 20 minutes to burn the label which consisted only of the Music Artist and the Title of the Album, five words in all.I do not object to the slowness, only that the contrast between label and background is hard to discern. You wait for a product that ultimately disappoints.

I do not object to paying between 57 cents (in quantity) to 80 cents a disc for the Lightscribe media for special albums.

I look forward to improvements in Lightscribe. It is truly a revolutionary idea. It feels as if it were rushed to market a little ahead of its time.

When it is perfected, and I think that will not take much tinkering, everyone who burns will want to have one.Right now it is for early adopters only. However, the burner is fine and improvements in the software and blank media could come at anytime, so you may need nothing more than updated software and a new set of Lightscribe blanks.

    2-0 out of 5 stars half-assed design
What you don't see from the pictures is that you first have to put your ipod in this filmsy cellophane condom wrap before inserting it into the plastic case. It seems like a last minute fix for a major design flaw (without the wrap your ipod will get damaged by dirt and dust). The cellophane condom makes it difficult to get your ipod in the case. The condom doesn't lay totally flat. It gets wrinkles and looks silly inside the case. Go back to the drawing board Contour Design
you have to be able to do better then this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great case, except for docking/speakers
I bought this case a month ago and love it. Once you put the iPod into it, there's no need to take it out (unless you want to dock it... see below). It's robust and gives you a good feel of protection for the iPod.
The only downside I can see with this case, is that the iPod does not fit most standard docking stations/speakers due to the plastic casing. This case is not designed for taking the iPod frequently out, so if you're planning on using it with docking stations a lot, this might not be the right solution for you. I have the Logic 3 i-Station, but have to take the iPod out of the case each time I want to dock it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but very close
I don't think there IS a 5 star iPod case. That said- this is about as close as it gets. If you have a 40 Gig iPod, you might as well go with the Contour Showcase. But if you have a 20 Gig like mine, this fits tighter and adds less size to the iPod. IMHO, it looks even more attractive than the quite awesome Showcase. (hopefully my product photos will post here)

The GREAT: the only case I've seen that enhances the beauty of the iPod rather than diminish it. It's as if your iPodwas dipped in crystal clear acrylic; the resulting reflections and refractions are beautiful. It's quite a feat to deliver such protection AND such stylish appearance. It also adds very little weight and size to the iPods - oh you can get a lighter jacket or sleeve, but you won't get a tenth of theprotection and style of this beauty. The sleeve (see below) even protects the click wheel while allowing full access, a rare thing in any ipod case.

The IMPERFECT: It's a slide-in case and as such, the risk of scratching the iPod is high. Contour's solution to this is a plastic sleeve that goes over the iPod before you insert it in the case. It's not a perfect solution. As you might expect, the sleeve starts to hang up and slip off the iPod as it enters the case. It took a dozen attempts to get it in reasonably well, but i never did get it snug. That leaves a bit of a wrinkly look to theclick wheel.
And as others have noted, supplying a single sleeve with a web link to order more is kinda cheesy. Give me 3 in the box and raise the price $3 instead. I suspect they don't want you to EVER take the iPod out of the iSee and that is an option, but - I'd prefer some backup sleeves without having to wait on snail mail.
The belt clip worries me a bit - it seems like it couldaccidentally release from the case when bumped and let your ipod fall? But it hasn't happened.

The bottom line? At $20 this product is cheaper than most, better looking than most and more functional than most.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent case
This case is wonderful.I put my iPod in when I got it and haven't had need to take it out.Fits snuggly and I love that it's clear, and everything is accesible.Very highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars your search for an iPod case is OVER!!!!!
this case is fabulous..its as good as a case for a cell phone, its thick and sturdy, this thing keeps ur iPod protected for good.. stop searching and surrender your money for this case, you'll never need to look again, enjoy! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars TDK's CD-R quality is great and will last longer.
I have learned a hard lesson in buying blank CD-R over the years. I first bought the blank aluminum surface cheap no-name CD-R at the computer fair. They were OK; they don't last as long as TDK, but burn well. Only 2-5 bad CD in a bundle of a 100 failed. I decided to upgrade the look of the blank CDR on my next purchase and got Sony. TDK and Yamaha were noticeably expensive. Sony's CDR(smooth pearl surface) are the absolute worst (read my review on for Sony CD-R) the CD will burn, but over time become unreadable and the surface started to fake.

My friend burned me a TDK's CD about 2-3 years ago and the CDR still look like new. So, I decide to give it a try. I read somewhere that TDR surface is a little more scratch proof then the other brands. I have no problem burning any of TDK. I have a Yamaha burner burning between 4-20speed and the TDK 48x has no problem. I have 3 generation of TDK, they all look a like very nice with smooth silver surface and a nice clean design. The surface at time is harder to write on then other cheaper CDR with a dryer marker, but I think it is because of high quality TDK surface. If you want to save a couple of cents per CDR and get cheaper CDR then it won't last as long as a TDK's CDR. Noticeable: Memorex is pretty good, and cheaper. Some HP is very nice with gold surface. Yamaha is TDK quality but pricier, Sony (pearl surface) is crap. Fiji is good and also cheaper. Looking at the surface you can tell which brand model is good. The gold surfaces are the best and pricier then the aluminum/silver surface. You will always get a better deal when you buy a 100-spindle over a 20pack. I first bought TDK 20 pack to see how good they were before I moved to up to a 100-spindle. ... Read more

In the car, on a plane, at lunch, or in the library, you'll always be ready to listen to favorite music and movies with a companion using Monster Cable's trusty iSplitter minijack "Y" adapter. The device features a single male .125-inch stereo analog jack that splits its signal to feed two female .125-inch stereo analog outputs suitable for two sets of headphones or, if you want, a single headphone as well as a stereo minijack interconnect (not included) for passing audio to your PC or other device.

Specially designed to accommodate Apple iPods, iBooks, and Powerbooks, the durable adapter is gold-plated at both ends for maximal signal conductivity and minimal susceptibility to audio-degrading corrosion. And it's every bit as easy to use as it looks: just plug the male end of the iSplitter into the headphone jack on your iPod, iBook, Powerbook, or other entertainment device, then plug your headphones into the other end, and hit "play."

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple solution with great design/aesthetics
OK, this is a splitter. You can buy a cheap one anywhere but this one is well-made. The design matches the iPod well but it's functional as well. The black circle is a rubberized material with ridges that provide a good place to hold the splitter while you plug or unplug headphones. It works great.

I bought the splitter to use with a laptop playing DVD's while on vacation so that my wife and I could both listen with headphones (extremely important not to wake kids, especially while trying to enjoy a quiet moment on vacation). It works well on the plane too where you must use headphones to not disturb other passengers.

5-0 out of 5 stars SWEET!!!!
This thing is sweet, it works great to play your ipod through your stereo!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars IPOD RETURN POLICY is sorta SHORT!!
Okay. Here is a write up, that I did, on the comparisons/contrasts on MP3 players. Mainly, the Harddrive versions (I.E. Rio Riot/Apple IPOD -both of which I own) and the flash memory type... (I.E. Memorex 3642 Mp3 Player, of which I own as well).
What prompted this little jaunt (of which you may send to as many people as you like) My $499 Apple IPOD died during a sync last month. Just me copying files over to it, and the battery ran out of juice. I would have not attempted to copy music had I known the battery was low, but the battery read FULL STRENGTH. Anyhoo, I called Apple, they said return it for maintenance.

    I did. Sent it back.

    They returned it, still broke.

To my suprise, there is only a TEN DAY return policy.

I did not realize this at all... and it was a costly realization.

So, after a month or so of messing around trying to find another MP3 player... I decided to go with a flash memory MP3 player, the ones that use memory sticks.

SO, here are the pro and cons of these devices.

Pro's for the Memory Stick Mp3 players

-Cheaper. WAY CHEAPER than Hard drive types.

-If you go into music match and file convert to MP3 Pro and shrink the size of your MP3 to like, say 3o percent... you can really make a good Kompression. Example. My Memorex MP3 player has 32mbs of memory on board. It is expandable to 256mb. 32 mb will basically let you put one cd's worth of music. It is easy to put music on and off of them, due to your computer reading the USB as just another hard drive, so you drag and drop to put on, delete them to take them off. But, after you shrink your files to MP3 Pro 30 percent, you can put twice as many. So, basically a 256mb chip will allow me to put 208 songs on my little less than palm size MP3 player. And it wieghs like 3 ounces.

    - More on memory. These little chips are the size of the upper part of your thumb, at least my thumb anyway. They come in 128mb, 256mb, 512mb and even though there aren't any MP3 machines out there to handle them YET, you can even buy a 1.5gig thumb size chip thingy. Considering the size of the chips and the shrinking kompression I told you about earlier, I could shrink my whole KOLLEKTION down to 10 of those 1.5gig chips. At the current shrink rate I am at 5 DVD's, which are way bigger and more fragile than these little chips.

    - Not as fragile as hard drive type. You can drop one of these chips and not scratch it. I wouldn't stomp on one with my foot, nor get one in water, but they are encased in plastic. Ruggedish.

    - Batteries last for like two days. There isn't much going on here, no moving parts, no laser or hard drive to put power to. Most of these flash Memory types have a single AA battery. I use a rechargeable type, so we are talking very low cost here.
In comparison to the hard drive types, where you will get a solid 8 hours of playing, this really whupps up.

    - Size. Small. Very small. Mine is three inches by three inches. A square. But, you can get smaller ones. And the memory chips that go in them are the same ones you use for your camera. And you can put files on them. If you want to put a word doc on your memory chip, you can. Your Mp3 won't recognize it, but it is nifty storage.

    - Size does matter. In the case of hard drive Mp3 players... lets face it, you can, if you so chose to, put a library of congress on these monsters. They are the caddilacs of the hand held devices, and guzzle batteries like gasoline. But when it comes down to it, size is the only thing they have going for them. I don't mean to downplay the hard drive types, but don't drop them, don't shake them, and after shelling out $499 to Apple you might consider insurance. Apple doesn't care about you or your apple after 10 days of ownership.

    - Price/Komparison. IPOD ran me $499 bucks. My memorex MP3 player ran me 45 dollars. The 128 memory chip runs you 50 bucks. Owch. There really isn't a comparison to the two. The memory stick Mp3 players just kick butt on this issue. And, you get MORE than a ten day return policy, since you buy these things at Target/Wal Mart etc...

So, that is my review in a nutshell

Not completely sure why I am getting such a roasting on this review. I am only reporting what happened to me, and how I bought another product and compared the two.... I am not trying to change anyones mind, but letting someone know what happened to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars not just for the ipod!
This is a simple minijack splitter that takes one female 3.5mm stereo minijack and turns it into two! Wallah! You can use this anywhere a headphone jack exists. Use it on your laptop computer, your discman, walkman, mp3 player, even the soundcard on your pc - it doesnt matter it's just a splitter.

In typical monster style the splitter is made of the highest possible quality and offers excelent performance. It's also stylish, although it is made to fit with the iPod/iBook design scheme.

Bottom line, this type of splitter is ideal for gadget finatics and people who travel a lot and like to bring along thier music (unless you dont ever have the need to share). With this you can allow two pairs of headphones to be plugged into one discman, laptop, mp3 player, etc.

If you've ever wished you and your friend could both plug your headphone into your laptop so you could BOTH watch (and hear) a DVD on a bus trip this is the solution.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great.
This is ideal for the new iPOD you want to share with a friend. As usual, the sound quality on the Monster product is superior. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars DVD/CD Shredder provides protection and peace of mind
With a DVD or CD falling into the wrong hands all of your personal financial records, business customer lists, an entire accounting system or more could be lost or used against you. With the growing threat of hazards like identity theft the DVD/CD Shredder provides the protection and peace of mind needed at a very low cost.

When information is stored on DVDs and CDs the amount of data and the danger of loss is enormous. Failure to securely dispose of discs containing sensitive data that has become partially obsolete has the potential to destroy you and your business. A single CD holds the equivalent of approximately 80 four-drawer cabinets of text data. One side of a single DVD disc holds about 560 four-drawer cabinets filled with data, seven times CD capacity.

Recording data and information of all types on DVD and CD discs is a growing practice and the problem of secure disposition of old discs is growing faster. When DVDs and CDs are used to store data or back up a system, usually all of the data on a subject is recorded. When changes are made, they are typically to only small parts of the data and when changes are stored, all of the data is re-recorded on a new DVD or CD. The DVD or CD made before the changes still contains much sensitive and valuable information and DVD-Rs and CD-Rs cannot be erased.

Using a DVD/CD Shredder is one step you can take to minimize your risks. Alera Technologies new DVD/CD Shredder permanently destroys the data layers on DVDs and CDs securely preventing unauthorized use. For quick and easy handling, the DVD/CD Shredder will process up to 30 discs per minute, completely destroying the information contained on them and it is equipped with unique autostart/autostop operation.

The DVD/CD Shredder is the ideal security tool for corporate, government, education, and consumer applications.

5-0 out of 5 stars Alera Technologies DVD/CD Shredder
The DVD/CD shredder is small and compact and weighs about 8 lbs (3.6 kilos). You can easily make room for it on your desktop. This DVD/CD shredder is well worth the money because other methods (e.g.: professional data shredding services) are either more expensive or (when snapping CDs or DVDs in half by hand) downright dangerous. Businesses often store customer, personnel, confidential and manufacturing data on large volumes of CDs. The DVD/CD shredder comes into play offering a powerful security solution when the time comes to destroy data and backups which are no longer needed. The DVD/CD shredder is able to destroy data at a very fast rate - up to 30 DVD/CDs a minute.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
As a test I used a CD filled with freeware. I inserted a CD into the insert slot on the machine and it pulled the CD inside. After the CD was ejected I could see ridges throughout the CD (top and bottom layers) making it unreadable and safe from prying eyes. In order to test the manufacturer's promise I inserted the CD into a computer drive and tried to read the data. The computer gave me a hour glass and was unable to load the CD.

Success! I now use it on all my test CDs before going in the trash.

4-0 out of 5 stars Does what it purports to do.
I requested this as a Christmas gift and was happy to receive it. The growing threat of identity theft makes something like this almost mandatory for the CD burning PC enthusiast.

The device does not actually "shred" the CD, as I expected, nor does it remove the data layer (more on this a little further on) but it impresses the CD with a waffle-like set of ridges that render it unreadable by any normal means. The device is a little noisy, but not objectionable, and it is very fast. A dozen CD's were completed in a little over twenty seconds.

I would give this device a 5 except for two points; one, it really doesn't shred the Cd in the way I am accustomed to in a secure environment. The data layer on the CD or DVD is left intact, but the strata over the top is ridged so reading through it is impossible by any normal means. Is this a worry? Not really. What it does is render the media unreadable by any average dumpster diver. A Government agency with all the resources at their disposal could, conceivably, extract the data in spite of the waffling this device creates on the media. However, a Government Agency that interested in your media would not think twice about getting a warrant or otherwise getting your data, so the average Joe (or Jane) is safe.

My other gripe is the extremely sparse manual, which makes no mention of this pitfall. Alera should, at the least, point out that it's not a perfect solution.

That said, this is an excellent device, and well worth the price. I'll be using it a lot, and no longer will have to Dremel or burn any media. If you need to make sure no one, not even Govt. agencies, get your data, use some other method, but for me, this is perfect. ... Read more
