5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect picture
This is a GREAT monitor at any price. I recently built a system for my brother and bought a cheap flat-panel MAG monitor to go with it. Well, the color produced on the MAG was all washed out. And if you looked at it at any angle other than straight on, it was much much worse. Which is typical for flat-panels, but on the MAG is was excessive.

I took it back and carefully looked at all the flat panels, and this NEC was the ONLY one that looked great at every angle. And the color reproduction is simply jaw dropping. DVDs look great, games play great, and it's real easy on the eyes.

If you want great graphics at pretty good price, this is the one to get! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Flat Panel Monitor
After doing some research and looking at various monitors I decided on the NEC 1550V. For the price it is an excellent deal and seemed to perform the best. When I first saw the model the 1550v replaced, the 1530v, in the store I was amazed at the picture quality. This monitor shares that same excellent picture quality.

Setup was a snap and the picture is incredible. Vibrant colors, even backlighting and quick refresh all make this monitor a joy to use. I have had no problems using it with work applications and the screen is fast enough to use with games as well (though I am not a hard-core gamer, it definitely seems fine to me). I've noticed less eye strain and fatigue using this LCD for long periods of time. All in all, a great deal and I will never go back to a CRT. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted
I searched all over for a lcd monitor that would save space on our desk at home and not drain our bank account too much. The NEC Multisynch 1550V is just what I wanted.

It may not have the super high-end resolution of other monitors but I really don't need that for basic writing, surfing, presentations, etc. The price was right and the black model that we bought looks great sitting on top of our black IBM NetVista. Everyone who comes into our home office comments on how great it looks and then notes how crisp and bright the pictures on the screen appear.

Set up was a major pain, but after many hours I deduced that the issue was a glitch in the Microsoft Windows ME operating system and NOT a problem with the monitor. A visit to the Microsoft tech support page ultimately provided the instructions to fix my system.

I would buy it again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good looking, easy to set-up, space saving and basic everyday use monitor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product
I just bought this monitor a week ago, and I'm very pleased with it. I really don't have anything to complain about. It works flawlessly, and it looks great. And, it's nice to get back a huge amount of my desk-space. I had read some of the other reviews that mentioned that the screen isn't bright enough, or that pixels were dead, or that the color isn't uniform. I haven't had any of those problems. The screen is very bright, and people have even commented on how clear and easy to read the screen is. After he saw this monitor, one of my friends is now going to order one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Monitor Ever
This is simply the best monitor ever, and it is such a value at the prices it is selling for. It's a space saver and the graphics and screen quality are simply amazing for the [low] price. I was doubtful at first, but decided to take a chance and buy it on Amazon.com. Am I glad I did! I'm using it right now and it is simply the best monitor ever, despite the negative reviews it has received in the past. I encourage everyone to buy this, you won't regret it.

1-0 out of 5 stars More like a minus 5 stars!
Have you ever tried to view a 15" monitor at 1024x768 resolution, which is the recommendation for "Optimal Performance" with the MultiSync LCD1550V monitor. I wear corrective lenses, but my corrected vision is still 20/30, and I have to strain my eyes to read anything on this monitor. In addition, compared to my 17" Avitron Trinitron monitor, the colours on the NEC-Mitsubishi MultiSync LCD1550V 15: LCD Monitor are all washed out, even after adjustments were made. I was very very disappointed with this purchase and do not feel I should have to pay for return shipping. In addition, while it is a minor matter, your advertisement stated that the monitor was white, and the picture shown is white, but what I received was your typical "computer" putty colour. This was just a bad experience all the way around. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great LCD for a GREAT price!
My husband and I are VERY pleased with this Mitsubishi LCD1512. I did a LOT of research on these LCD monitors, and this one had the best contrast ratio (400:1) for the lowest price. (watch out for a ratio LOWER than 400:1--they are cheaper because the picture is horrible quality). We were very pleasantly suprised when it arrived--it has a beautiful picture and modern design and takes up so little space. It's VERY easy to use...just plug it in to the computer, and it's ready--no confusing set-up. Make sure to get a good 1-3 year warranty because all LCD monitors are prone to "dead pixels". Also, it does not come with speakers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars how to pay
I lived in Viet Nam. I want to buy it but i don't have account. May i give you the money after you bring it to me. if not you can tell me the other way to cash for it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst LCD Ever Made!!!
This is truely the worst LCD ever made by NEC/Mitsubishi. The color is dull in comparison to the NEC-Mitsubishi MultiSync LCD1550V 15" LCD Monitor. I had to return this LCD for the LCD1550V LCD. It was a little bit more expensive but well worth it. You get what you pay for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good choice
This budget LCD monitor is a good choice for home and SOHO users. It's stylish in black, and the LCD panel gives good image clarity and color reproduction. Minor gripes I have are first the contrast ratio could be higher (but that can be said of every LCD I've seen) and second the menu system is harder than it should be. But this ranks top in departments that matter the most in a monitor: image quality. Also, I've had various NEC's in the past and their durability is nothing short of top-notch.

5-0 out of 5 stars worked like a charm
i like this model a lot. of course, i'm not a computer genius or anything, more of a self-professed luddite... but i've invested a lot of time shopping and reading information on what really mattered when buying a flat panel display. as a student, i'm naturally limited by a budget, i've decided on this particular model because it's of good quality, and has all the technology that i wanted -- and more importantly, it won't break my bank!

i don't indulge in really intense computer games like counter-strike etc, but i do enjoy games like simcity and the sims, so i'd like a reasonable response time. this machine provides that, and i love that it doesn't take much space in my sardine-can-sized room.

bottom line is that it works wonderfully, the color's brilliant and i can't find anything wrong with it when compared to the traditional CRT. in fact, it works better!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not that impressed.
It does the job, but I am really not that impressed, it was priced O.K. I had a little trouble getting it to come on the first time, had to push the on button really hard and it mad a loud snap that sounded like something broke inside, but other than that it seems to work fine, it is no better or worse than any of the other LCD monitors that I have seen. LCD is cool because it saves space, and doesn't hurt your eyes like a tube will, but I am really not that impressed with this monitor. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sleek and Sophisticated
I never thought the monitor mattered much, but when I needed to fit my computer onto a tiny desktop in my kitchen a flat LCD monitor became a necessity. The Mitsubishi Diamond Point V50LCD is not only appealing to look at when off but offers brighter screen images than any previous screen I owned. It is simple to set up, takes almost no space and can in fact be mounted on the wall-something I am considering. The colors are brighter and truer than I thought possible. This is well worth the money, especially if space is an issue. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Impressive
This monitor is the first flat screen monitor I ever owned. In the process of making the decision, I looked at over 300 reviews on monitors. The most influential were the user reviews on Amazon.com It was because of this that I bought this monitor.

The monitor has resolution and clarity that I never expected to see on the screen. It is truly a plug & play device, I just pulled it out of the box and booted up. MS-Windows then found it and seached automatically for the best driver.

The installation was practically seemless and the results were just phenomenal. I would highly recommend this as a first monitor for anyone who has yet to experience the glory of a flat screen monitor. The only problem left is what to do with all that desk space.

5-0 out of 5 stars IS This Comparable To NEC MultiSync 3FGe
Attention:

The reason why I am asking your opinion on the above, is simply this:
I have a NEC MultiSync 3FGe 15" Color Monitor; I intend to purchase the DELL PRE610 Processor. Therefore, I am wondering if my monitor would be compatible with it?
Thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unless you require digital input, this is the BEST 15" panel
Unless you require digital input interface, which I would recommend Eizo Nanao's L365, NEC's 1550M is by far the best in terms of image quality for the price. Contrasts and brightness make this monitor stand out from the crowd. I found my Samsung panel at work lacks the brightness and contrasts that i demand, but this 1550M meets my highest expectation. The small premium over the others including NEC 1550V is worth every bit.

By the way, the 1550M's panel is identical to Nanao's L365, which explains why these two monitors manage to have such outstanding image quality. (Still a satisfed user even though my panel has one dead pixel)

5-0 out of 5 stars Even better than expected!
I must have read every single review on every single website and in every single magazine, for every flat panel monitor made. Make sure you read all the specs on each monitor before you make a decision. The specs for the 1550m (mine is black)came out tops for brightness, contrast and response time, especially for a 15" monitor at this price. A lot of complaints I was hearing, were regarding the brightness, I actually have mine turned down. The clarity, both images and text, is excellent. Auto adjust set up right away, as advertised, and with the free download of "LiquidView" software, enabling one to set icons, text and other tools at a larger size and still keep the same resolution, the display is even more impressive. The small one-watt speakers produce a much clearer and sharper sound than one would expect from such small low-power units. The fact that I have a Soundblaster Audigy sound card installed obiously helps, but nonetheless these small speakers are impressive. The four USB ports in the base are very convenient (there is a USB cord supplied to hook the base of the monitor to a USB port on the processor), although USB 1.1, I have a printer, zip drive and wireless mouse connected and everything works great.
My first PC was an NEC (also the monitor), and from the word go, it worked flawlessly for 5 years and is still going strong, so that also says a lot for NEC products, never had a problem with the hard drive or anything.
I haven't been much of a gamer, but with the fast response time of 25ms. and the clarity of this screen, the graphics look gorgeous, with bright vivid colours. The resolution is 1024X768, so you do get the odd error message saying that the screen is not set at optimum, but I can live with that. I love this monitor, and with the narrow frame it actually appears to be a lot larger than 15", the display area seems larger than on the 17" CRT at work. It is very solidly built, and it also happens to be one of the best-looking monitors I have seen. I was tempted to go with one of the competitors, but compared to this 15" the other one looked massive with the much larger frame, it doesn't sound like a big deal but NEC is right, it does make a big difference. Even without the speakers and USB ports, I would spend the extra bucks, just for the added brightness and contrast, even over the 1550V model, just compare all the specs and you'll see why this small unit comes out on top. One review I read about the 1530V, the writer mentioned having an ATI video card, as I do, (Radeon 8500), and I do agree that it seems to work seamlessly with this unit. I am not that knowledgable technically, I can only say that the components I have in my system all work well together, whether the actual make of video card makes any difference in reality, I can't say. The one thing I do know for sure is that I love this monitor and have a hard time taking my eyes off it, my next upgrade in a few years would again be NEC, probably 18". Good Luck! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

If your desktop is prime real estate but your work is graphicsintensive, the NEC/Mitsubishi 1530V's tiny footprint, rich color, and brightpicture provide a solution to both issues. The 200:1 high-contrast display with1,024 x 768 resolution and 0.3-millimeter dot pitch combine to produce beautifulimages, all from a very compact package.

Weighing only 10.4 pounds and sporting a screen that's less than 3 inches thick, the monitor is so thin and light that, taking it out of the box, we had aninstinctive reaction of "this can't be high quality--it's too light!" However,we soon changed our mind. Setup was a snap, and the No-Touch Auto Adjustingtechnology adjusted many display settings for us from the very first use toefficiently use every pixel of space on the screen. Having tested many monitorsbefore, we're wary of automatic setup functions, as they often don't work aswell as promised. But the first time we turned on the 1530V, it had idealsettings for our test PC.

In our tests, the 1530V's 1,024 x 768 resolution, 0.3-millimeter dot pitch, anda 200:1 contrast ratio provided remarkably crisp images. (Although you can usethe monitor at a 640 x 480 resolution, 1,024 x 768 is optimal and recommended.)Text that was small and light against a dark background did suffer from slightshadowing, but the effect was negligible. The color was astounding: rich, fullysaturated hues across the rainbow, producing vibrant greens and warm skin tones. The monitor handled graphics-intensive applications with ease: we loaded testimages into Photoshop, watched streaming media videos, and tested animationprograms. We never caught a single flicker. And when we ran a program that wouldbenefit from reducing the contrast, the onscreen controls were readilyaccessible and completely intuitive. Also, the monitor's base, which is justover 6 inches deep by 10 inches wide, kept the monitor stable even when thescreen was tilted to extreme angles.

Meeting VESA standards, the 1530V is wall and arm mountable for commercial use,and the power and PC cords plug in beneath a removable casing, keeping yourdesktop (or wall space) tidy. The 1530V is compatible with PCs and Macs as wellas Sun, Silicon Graphics, and other workstations and X-terminals. The three-yearwarranty includes parts (even the backlight) and labor. --Ariel MeadowStallings

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional flat panel value
The moment I fired up this replacement monitor for my home system I swore that I would never purchase another CRT. Although being tied to the "optimum" resolution of 1024 X 768 is restrictive, everything looks so good that I don't mind. I've paired the unit with two high-end video adapters; 3Dfx VooDoo 5 5500 and NVidia GeForce3. In each case, the only quality degradation comes from blocky dark colors during DVD playback via WinDVD. The screen looks beautiful with Windows XP and quite attractive on Windows 2000. Video games look fantastic, but must be played at 1024 X 768 to not appear distorted.

I purchased this model primarily because of its price. The unit's design, size, and the inclusion of the power trasformer in the casing were all contributing factors. I'm also very pleased with the brightness of the diplay, even with ambient room light.

I would suggest downloading the INF and color correction files from NEC for the monitor from http://support.necmitsubishi.com/software.htm. This will replace "Plug and Play Monitor" with the monitor's actual name in the control panel in Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP. It will also limit the possible resolutions and refresh rates.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good value in an LCD display
I think this display is great. It's got great image quality, great contrast, a wide viewing angle, low latency and a small footprint. I've had mine for a month now and I have not seen one flicker.

Setup was a breeze on my PC. I just plugged it in and it worked. No special drivers, hardware or other setup nonsense was necessary on my system. It quite simply worked out of the box. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I think this monitor has got all the advantages of an LCD monitor -- with none of the disadvantages. This is a quality display from a quality manufacturer. And this quality is evident as soon as you lift it out of the box. The quality continues as you hook it up and turn it on. In fact, everyone who has seen this monitor work on my PC has mentioned how nice it is. I have to agree. I'm very happy with it.

If you are looking for an entry-level LCD but don't want to skimp on features or quality, I think you will be happy with this monitor, too. It's not the least expensive LCD you can buy -- nor is it the most expensive. But, in my opinion, it's a good value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best monitor I've ever owned.
I endlessly researched LCD computer monitors before I purchased this and the research paid off... big time. My friends and family are amazed at the sleakness (I ordered the black version) and the picture quality of this monitor. Additionally, believe it or not, this monitor appreciated from the time I purchased it on AMZN, imagine that! It's expecially great in a dorm/apartment setting.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's time for an LCD monitor!
The time has arrived for LCD monitors. The price is now right and the quality is definitely up there. I have been quite pleased with this monitor. I carefully compared it with others in the store and was impressed by the sharpness of display and the vivid colors. When I got it home I was delighted with the DVD experience this monitor provides - quite a bit like 3D! Of course, like all LCDs, this one is amazingly lightweight and it takes up such a small amount of desk space. Over the next couple of years I expect LCDs to largely supplant CRTs in the home. I give this product four stars, reserving five stars for the much more expensive units.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent 15" LCD Flat Panel Monitor
After my old 15" CRT monitor went dead, and after reading all the reviews from this website, I was convinced to go out and get a LCD flat panel monitor. I did some serious research to find out which monitor was better between this one and the Envision 15" LCD monitor. So I went out and got the NEC MultiSync LCD 1530v. I was very impressed on how quick and easy it was to set it up. The "auto adjust" feature tuned in my monitor correctly the first time. My wife and I have played many video games with this monitor without any problems! When playing a DVD, the picture is crisp and clear with no signs of distortion. The colors on this monitor are absolutely amazing! My wife who uses the computer as much as I do also gives this monitor 5 stars for the reason that it does not hurt her eyes. For those of you whose eyes have low tolerance to glare, you don't have to worry about that. The monitor works best at a resolution of 1024x768. My system is an AMD K6-2 550MHz processor, Windows XP operating system, and ATI Radeon 7200 video card. I've had this monitor for 3 months now. I must say that it was the BEST purchase I've made!

If you're looking for an LCD flat panel monitor and can't afford to spend much money, then this monitor is for you. The viewing size of this monitor is 15.1", the same size of a 17" CRT monitor. With all the features and advantages that comes with this monitor, it's worth the spending. So go out and get one while they're hot! I give this LCD monitor my highest recommendations! ...

This was just a bad experience all the way around. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Monitor
I've had this monitor for a week now, and I'm completely content with my purchase. I shopped around very carefully for a long time, and ultimately chose the NEC 1560V because of the low price, high contrast ratio (400:1 same as the Dell UltraSharp, but the NEC [costs] less), and I also wanted a WHITE monitor, which I found to be rare in my searches.

The picture is crisp, without a trace of fuzziness. I had to lower my screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels - and that's the ONLY level that will work with this monitor. I like to keep my windows small, so that took some getting used to, but it's okay. The screen is adjustable, and my dad was excited to see that the viewing range was quite wide - 120 degrees, again, better than the UltraSharp's 80 degrees. Sure, I'd recommend this monitor - it's cheap, it's pretty, and it's functional. A great choice for people who don't have money to burn.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good for both Mac and PC!
I've really enjoyed using this monitor. I got another model of MultiSync monitor about 6 months ago, and was very pleased with that, so I saw no reason to switch brands when I discovered I needed another LCD monitor.

I've used this monitor on my PC running Windows 98, and then Windows XP. (I later upgraded to XP.) I've also used it on a PowerMac G4 (connected to the VGA port), which runs both OS X and OS 9. It works well with both of these Macintosh Operating Systems. The screen is bright and clear.

When I ran the Windows update in XP, it immediately found a recent driver for this monitor. That was nice.

It is best to set this monitor at its "native" resolution of 1024 x 768 -- if you set it for 800 x 600 (or lower) the monitor "reminds" you periodically that it is not set at its "best" setting. This warning will keep popping up and while I assume there's a way to make it go away permenantly, it is a little irritating. So, be warned if you want to use this monitor at anything other than 1024 x 768. Actually, all LCD monitors are the same in this regard -- they don't *want* to be set at any other resolution other than their "native" resolution. The sharpness will not be as good on any LCD monitor if it's not at its "native" resolution. That's just the nature of LCD.

All I can say is that setting up this monitor has been trouble-free. It is a slim and lightweight monitor with a bright screen. An absolute joy. Very cross-platform! I am quite pleased with it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little monitor!
I bought the NEC MultiSync 1560 about 7 months ago. I happen to have the white/gray one, not black. This LCD is the best, and a great value. The 15" format is perfectly fine for me.
I am so not disappointed with my purchase! I am a student, so I need some working space on my desk, and this LCD takes very little space on it.
The picture is near perfect. I use Webshots for my wallpaper, and the images render just great. I can almost see myself on that tropical island!!! :) I play games a lot too, they look great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous
The word gorgeous applies to both the 1560V's picture quality and exterior styling. I personally prefer this black one, although you might want to check out the gray (white?) one if that's your color. Teh contrast ratio is excellent, and according to a recent PC World research report (and much to my pleasant surprise), NEC-Mitsubishi understates the contrast ratio on their LCD monitors, so you get more than what the manufacturer tells. (Apparently all the South Korean manufacturers overstate their contrast ratio, therefore shortchanging their customers this way.) Even though this is only a 15-inch LCD, the screen feels big due to the black frame. Set-up is a breeze, even for most beginners. And it stands out nicely on your desktop. I've owned another NEC LCD monitor for over 4 years and have had no problem, so I feel confident about the 1560V's quality as well. Very highly recommended. This is the one to get, unless you want the NEC-Mitsubishi 17-inch or larger LCDs. :)

4-0 out of 5 stars NEC 1560V -- value LCD for tight budget users
I compared lot of 15" & 17" LCD at the market, here's some of my suggestions:
1. Don't settle anything less than 400:1 contrast ratio (higher the better)
2. Look for the response time, range is vary, the lower the better
3. NEC & Viewsonic will be my choice...Samsung's quality is not that impressive as some websites described
4. Dead pixel(s), more than 3 is unacceptable, but I will say one is more than enough...(Look at the return policy before you buy) If you can't live with it, you better shop at the local dealers so you can test it before you buy.
5. The quality of this LCD is good for daliy use, you won't disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Buying LCD thro' web
I did the research before I bought this product, my choice finally came up between Viewsonic and NEC. A 17" brand name LCD was cost (at least) 50% more compare with a 15" one; so if you want a LCD with tight budget (like me), NEC 1560V is a solid product at this category and at the right price. Also, don't buy the 1550V since it's the older model with [$] difference. This is not for serious gamers, of course, if you read the spec. careful enough.
Amazon.com offer a even better price after I placed the order [$$$] just few days later at [$$$]....(can I get [$] back?) and I found their (electronic) products' prices change frequently just like seafood market...
The product arrived one week later at good shape, just plug in the power cable & video cable, for a few seconds the screen was on with sharp image automatically. I soon found a dead pixel near the upper left corner -- if this doesn't bother you then everything is fine; since many resellers will not allow you to return because of 1 dead pixel. But for those who ask for a perfect screen, you better go to the local shop, ask the salesperson to pull out the panel & test it before you buy. I bought many of my PC stuffs thro' web, but I felt purchase a LCD thro' web is the most risky one and that's why I will stick with the big name with good return policy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product at a good price
The monitor is attractive and easy to set up. It has very good brightness and contrast. The response speed, which can be a problem with LCD monitors, is the fastest I have seen. 5-0 out of 5 stars NEC MultiSync LCD 1525M
The NEC MultiSync LCD 1525M monitor has excellent color and runs on low voltage making it far more cost effective and it saves your eyes, much easier to look at, while doing long periods of computer work. It was very easy to install and came with instructions for various hook-up formats.

I'm very pleased with my NEC MultiSync moniter. LCD is the way to go if you can afford it... as the prices go down and the availability of LCD becomes the standard, it will become the only way to view your computer. The NEC has a very small footprint and the weight is a lot less than the CRT.
